Ultherapy® utilizes powerful radiofrequency energy to deliver heat to the deep layers of your skin. It makes use of focused ultrasound, much like the ultrasound used in pregnancy imaging, and is delivered via a wand held over the top of the skin. The ultrasound waves are guided into the deeper layer of skin where collagen is present.

The ultrasound waves heat the collagen and break it down. Gradually, over the next few months, your body comes to the rescue and stimulates the tissue to produce new collagen. Because new collagen crisscrosses like a bridge to create a revitalized structure under your skin (rebuilding the very structures that are breaking down over time), your facial areas and neck can be tightened and uplifted as these new structures take shape. With this lifting and tightening procedure, you can go about your day after a single in-office procedure lasting just an hour or so.

You are an ideal candidate for Ultherapy® if you are looking for a non-invasive skin tightening and wrinkle treatment. It is commonly used for women and men aged 30 and above with mild to moderate skin laxity; it is important to still have some skin elasticity to achieve better results.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you may not be recommended to undergo the procedure. The treatment cannot be utilized if you have open wounds or active skin infections in the treatment area. We’ll evaluate your skin and discuss the details of the procedure in more depth during your consultation.

Your Ultherapy® procedure at Schlessinger MD begins with cleansing the target areas, so plan to arrive at your appointment with makeup-free skin. A special ultrasound gel will be applied to the treatment areas.

We will then use a handheld device to deliver focused ultrasound energy to the targeted regions. You might feel a little heat and a tingling sensation during the treatment process. It can take 30 to 90 minutes to complete your procedure. The Ultherapy® treatment is very precise and shown to be safe in clinical studies. It acts specifically on the treatment area and does not cause damage to the surface of the skin.

Recovery after Ultherapy® is usually quick and straightforward, with minimal downtime. You may experience some temporary redness, swelling, or mild tenderness, but these effects typically subside within a few hours to a few days. To minimize discomfort and support healing, avoid excessive touching, rubbing, or scratching of the treated skin.

Keep your skin well-moisturized following Ultherapy®. Choose only gentle, hydrating moisturizers that are free from harsh ingredients. While there is generally no need for extensive downtime after Ultherapy®, it’s advisable to refrain from engaging in strenuous activities, such as heavy workouts or excessive sweating, for a few days following the treatment.

The cost of an Ultherapy® treatment varies depending on the extent of correction required to achieve the desired results in the treatment area. During your consultation, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan that includes the exact cost of your treatment. Since Ultherapy® is a cosmetic procedure, it is not covered by insurance and payments will come out of pocket. In order to help make it affordable, we offer flexible financing options to help assist with payment.
