Recent years have brought significant advancements in light therapy and laser skin resurfacing technology, giving dermatologists new approaches to cosmetic skin rejuvenation. Among these, MOXI™, HALO®, BBL HERO™ and BBL HEROic™, CONTOUR TRL™, and ProFractional® stand out as some of the most sophisticated options, designed to provide effective results more comfortably and efficiently, requiring fewer sessions and minimizing downtime. This advanced suite of state-of-the-art laser therapies, now available at Schlessinger MD, address a broad spectrum of skin concerns, including dark spots, deep wrinkles, scarring, sagging skin and overall skin quality more efficiently and effectively than ever before.

Dr. Joel Schlessinger, a board-certified dermatologist, Mohs surgeon and cosmetic surgeon says, “Our new suite of lasers is absolutely a game-changer for our clinic and for Omaha. As the first clinic in the Midwest to have BBL HERO™ and BBL HEROic™, a new form of BBL that is intuitive and with software that assures complete coverage of areas, assuring the best results possible, we are able to help with every aspect of skin discoloration and wrinkling on the body and face. This is huge as, before this, facial wrinkles were possible, but body was simply too large and potentially fraught with challenges. Now, we have it all covered. I am so excited to be the first in our region to offer this state-of-the-art technology.”

Dr. Daniel Schlessinger, also a board-certified dermatologist as well as a Mohs surgeon and cosmetic surgeon adds, “We have something to offer almost everyone with these lasers. Whether you already have healthy skin and are looking for a quick ‘glow up’ with a Moxi™ treatment, or if you have years of sun damage and wrinkles that you want to peel back with deep resurfacing with Contour TRL Erbium laser – these Sciton lasers can help. Sciton is different from almost all other laser company because they were founded and led by two physicists, who are still guiding the ship even after decades. So, they are uniquely focused on science and engineering in a way that almost no other device company is.”

Deciding which light therapy and laser skin resurfacing treatment is best for you means getting to know which skin conditions each option treats as well as who it suits best. That’s why we’re diving into the advanced laser treatment offerings for both the face and body, ensuring you can make an informed choice about your skin rejuvenation journey.

This innovative “lunchtime” laser treatment for the face takes only eight to ten minutes and utilizes non-ablative, fractionated laser energy distributed evenly across the skin’s surface. By specifically targeting water within skin cells, MOXI™ stimulates the body’s natural healing mechanisms for a rejuvenated look. This gentler laser treatment is notable for its minimal to no downtime, making it an ideal option for any time of the year, including the summer months. Most people feel it looks like a sunburn for the first day and then a mild tan for a few days after that. Moreover, it’s effective across all skin tones, offering a versatile solution for anyone wanting skin rejuvenation.

What it treats: Known as a “prejuvenation” treatment, MOXI™ addresses the initial signs of sun damage, pigmentation, uneven skin tone, texture issues and other early stages of aging. This laser treatment can be applied to various areas of the body, including the neck, chest, hands, arms, legs and face.

Who it’s best for: Younger patients who want to be proactive at postponing the early signs of aging, as well as people seeking a gentle but effective method to brighten their skin, will find this treatment particularly beneficial. Visible improvements may be noticeable after just a single session. However, to achieve optimal results, you may require between two to four treatments.

Well-known for bringing out skin’s natural glow, this hybrid fractional laser combines a non-ablative 1470 nm diode wavelength with an ablative 2940 nm erbium wavelength laser to target the skin at a deeper level than MOXI®. This technology works by creating controlled thermal injuries in the skin, which prompts the body’s natural healing process to generate new, healthy skin. Additionally, it incorporates Dynamic Thermal Optimization technology, which continuously adjusts to the skin’s temperature, ensuring each treatment is as precise and comfortable as possible.

What it treats: HALO® addresses many skin concerns, from texture issues and enlarged pores to sun damage, pigmentation and wrinkles and can be tunable to be more ablative for deeper skin concerns like pigment. It also treats actinic keratosis, scarring, and vascular lesions, providing a comprehensive solution for revitalizing and restoring skin health.

Who it’s best for: HALO® is cleared for Fitzpatrick types I-VI and is great for anyone who wants to regain a confident glow! Achieving the best results with just one to two treatments, this laser treatment utilizes a topical anesthetic to ensure comfort and most patients can resume their normal activities within 24 – 48 hours. Skin will look swollen for the first 24 hours and then, sunburned for about 4 days after this, before revealing a healthy glow. The neck, face, hands, chest, legs and arms can all be treated with HALO®.

Leveraging pulsed light technology with ten wavelength filters, BBL HERO™ and BBL HEROic™ addresses a variety of skin concerns more quickly, effectively and comfortably than traditional lasers. The “ic” in BBL HEROic™ stands for intelligent control, which is a system that matches the speed of the handpiece with the amount of energy delivered in a very sophisticated manner. Plus, its cooling technology coupled with an integrated sapphire chill plate ensures the skin remains comfortable throughout the treatment, minimizing the need for pre-treatment numbing creams. Remarkably, it treats skin four times faster than the original BBL treatment, enhancing efficiency without compromising comfort or effectiveness.

What it treats: BBL HERO™ and BBL HEROic™ technology addresses a wide range of skin issues, including dark spots, years of sun damage, laser hair removal, loose and sagging skin, as well as mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne and redness. While it can treat smaller areas with precision, it can also target larger areas of the body, such as the neck, legs, arms, back, buttocks and abdomen.

Who it’s best for: Anyone with Fitzpatrick skin types I-V who want to target both surface-level issues like texture and deeper issues like pigment are great candidates for BBL HEROic™

ProFractional® is an ablative fractional laser skin resurfacing treatment that creates tiny microchannels deep within skin, kickstarting new collagen production, while the surrounding tissue remains intact to ensure optimal healing. It is versatile enough to offer everything from superficial to deep laser resurfacing, depending on your needs. With its high ablation efficiency and minimal thermal conduction, this treatment offers a very effective, yet comfortable laser resurfacing experience.

What it treats: ProFractional® is an effective solution for acne scars, scar revision, and deep skin resurfacing, targeting dark spots, freckles, and actinic keratosis. It is suitable for the neck, chest, hands, arms and legs and noticeable results can be achieved after a single session. To preserve and protect your results, annual maintenance treatments may be recommended.

Who it’s best for: ProFractional® laser resurfacing offers a versatile solution suitable for all skin types, ideal for individuals seeking dramatic improvements in wrinkles, sun damage and acne scarring with minimal downtime. It’s also an excellent option for those interested in professional laser skin rejuvenation but not interested in or ready for surgical procedures.

This advanced laser treatment harnesses the power of light to address wrinkles, diminished elasticity, and sagging skin, gently warming the underlying layers to stimulate collagen production for a firmer, more youthful appearance. In a SkinTyte® session, our expert physicians methodically guide the laser across the targeted area in four passes, ensuring the skin remains cool for a comfortable experience. Patients may experience slight redness or swelling akin to a mild sunburn following the procedure, but can immediately return to their daily routine and even apply makeup right after the treatment.

What it treats: SkinTyte® improves the look of lax skin on the face, neck or body, with results lasting for up to twelve months. You may need between 3-5 treatments to achieve the final results you desire.

Who it’s best for: SkinTyte® is appropriate for all skin types and anyone who wants to tighten the look of lax skin on the face, neck or body.
